The word Ergonomics is derived from two words ERGO and NOMOI, collectively meaning laws of Work (or laws governing work). Ergonomics is a multi-disciplinary science, which discovers and applies information about human characteristics and behavior, to the design of systems, workplaces, products and environments. In simple words, Ergonomics is a discipline that involves arranging the environment to fit the person in it. The basic principle followed is improving the efficiency cost effectively, without compromising on the safety aspect. Use of Ergonomic Evaluations and techniques promotes health, enhances job productivity, job satisfaction and maximizes the product or systems quality by improving usability.
 
     
 
This certificate course aims to provide a broad based introduction to the principles of Ergonomics and their application in the design of work, equipment and the workplace. Though the Ergonomics science involves a multi-disciplinary approach involving team of professionals from various backgrounds, this course will focus on the aspect of health Ergonomics. Our focus here is towards musculoskeletal disorders, manual handling, office ergonomics, industrial health, ergonomics aspects of the environment, social and legal aspects
