Ayurveda is made up of two words namely- Ayu + Veda. Ayu means life and Veda means science, thus Ayurveda is the science of life and it teaches us how to live. According to Ayurveda life is union of body, mind, senses & soul and accordingly four aspects of health come into picture viz.- Physical, Mental, Social and Spiritual.

Our Earth when seen from out in space as well as by astronauts traveling to Moon is the most beautiful planet in the Solar system. It is only this planet that has a suitable environment to support life. The environment consists of space, air, fire, water and earth and all these five elements are present in every living organism including human beings enjoying the essence of this planet. Life of human beings in Ayurveda is considered to be of four types viz. Hit-ayu, Ahit-ayu, Sukh-ayu and Dukh-ayu. Human beings are considered to be the supreme creation of Almighty, thus, it is advised for them to achieve Hit-ayu and Sukh-Ayu according to Ayurveda. A person who is devoid of any physical or psychological disorder, is in his prime youth, highly accepted in society and well renowned, brave, enriched with knowledge, wealth, independence, has immense physical and mental strength is said to be enjoying Sukh-ayu and opposite to this is Dukh-ayu. A person who is always engaged in helping the needy life, whether it is humans, plants, animals or whatever, not greedy, truthful, peace loving, rational thinker, dutiful, alert, respects the deserving individuals, knowledgeable, helps elders, has limited desires, lives with equanimity, has control on hatred, anger, pride, confusion, jealousy, well acquainted with Spiritual knowledge, offers prayers, etc. is said to be enjoying Hit-ayu and opposite is the status of Ahiy-ayu.
 
   
According to Ayurveda health is not merely absence of a disease but it is a state of Physical, Mental, Social and Spiritual wellbeing.
